Generate your own renewable energy with solar panels

Panels are manufactured to consist of many cells that capture the light shining on the semi-conducting materials and generate a flow of electricity.

Luckily for us British, the cells do not require direct sunlight to produce the electricity and even work on fully clouded days.

As the electricity the panels generate is in DC, we install an inverter to convert this to AC, which then enables the electricity to be used throughout your home, stored within a battery facility or even exported to the grid.

How do solar panels work?

Solar panels are manufactured to consist of cells of semi-conducting material that capture sunlight and generate electricity.

Luckily for us British, the cells do not require direct sunlight to produce electricity and even work on fully cloudy days.

The panels generate electricity in DC, so we install an inverter to convert this to AC, which then enables the electricity to be used throughout your home, or can be exported to the grid. Just one single panel can make up to 350W of energy  – enough to run a blender! Homes can usually fit between 10-15 panels which can power several appliances during the day.  Get in touch to see how you could benefit from solar panels.

Are solar panel grants available in the UK?

The UK government is offering solar panel grants  to encourage homeowners and businesses to install solar panels and reduce dependency on fossil fuels.

Funding is available for solar panels through a  government scheme that will help pay for the cost of your solar panels and installation.

The grant amount depends on the size of the system you install but can be up to £7,500.

There are plenty of good reasons to install solar panels in the UK – why not see if you could benefit from this clean, renewable energy source?

What’s the process for getting solar panels installed?

As qualified solar PV installers, we conduct a site survey and assess the suitability of your property. From this, we can determine the best position for your solar panels and how many can be installed. You ideally want a pitched roof that faces south, east or west to capture the most sun. You don’t need planning permission for solar panels, but you do need to ensure that panels aren’t higher than the highest point on your house.

We are also Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) certified which means you can be confident in the quality of our solar installations. Once installed your solar panels should last up to 25 years. Want to find out how solar panels could benefit your home? Call and speak to one of our experts.
